Whether you are young or old, single or married – everyone needs a toolbox. It’s not just the men who need tools.
Magic Drawer
Back in the day, tools were stored in a simple wooden tray with a handle. I wonder how many tools fell out and remained forever lost. If you have a few tools and no toolbox then you may want to consider getting one. Single and on my own, I had tools both in my car and in my apartment. When I was married, my husband kept a toolbox. However, as a single parent, I had tools early on after the divorce. Ordinarily, I stored them in a kitchen drawer. Then, seemingly, it was a magical drawer because when I went to get a tool – it was gone. Finally, I bought a toolbox, stocked it, and stored it in my closet. Do you have a magic drawer?
Toolbox – Size, Color, and Style
Have you been to a hardware store, a department store, or home improvement store lately? The variety of toolboxes can be overwhelming! What size, what color? What style? Toolboxes can be steel or plastic or it can even be soft – one made with high strength fabric. They come in a variety of sizes and some even come stocked with basic tools. So maybe, you want something different, something you can just drop your tools into. Did you know there is a bucket with a pocket organizer that fits the bucket? If you are really serious about work around the house, then you may even want a tool belt.
Buying a toolbox considers some additional thought. Will you be keeping items it that require a small separate compartment? Will you want to carry a toolbox or a tray when working? Toolboxes come with or without small compartments and trays.
Toolboxes now come in designs made just for women, including pink, as well as black, red, and cobalt blue. I’ve even seen a leopard print set! Additionally, many tools are now smaller, made to better fit a woman’s hand.
However, before purchasing a toolbox, you may want to have few tools to put in it. Check out our tool series as we describe the basic tools every Lazy-Girl needs.
